The evidence, for this objective a paragraph that will illustrate how the various entities in the judicial system interact in regards to criminal cases. This objective connects to my classroom learning and experience in a few ways. For one my major is Political Science, but within this major I have taken classes on local government, and classes concerning the United States Judicial system and the United States Constitution. This evidence is centered around the Judicial system, thus when I was taking my Rhode Island Politics class, the Rhode Island Judiciary portion of the class helped me understand how the legal system works. This enabled me to have a good background on how the Rhode Island Superior court system works before hand.
What I did in order to complete this objective was take notes on case files, and speak to my supervisor and the various attorneys in my unit. This combined information allowed me to write a simple yet informative paragraph, that even the most uninformed individual could follow. This flow chart is a testament to my skills and abilities because it clearly shows that I understand how the various elements of the Judicial system interact with one another in order to form one cohesive unit.
When a crime is committed, in order for the victim and the defendant to be subject to a fair and impartial process, all the people involved must be able to work with one another properly. The police department must take it upon themselves to collect all the necessary evidence and make sure everything is documented. This is necessary because prosecutors must have this information in order to do all the prep work needed in order to ensure a proper outcome for the parties involved. The attorneys involved depend on the police department for this information, so they can inform the Judge on everything involving the case. If the Judge does not have all the facts, then the case will stall.. If the paralegals and secretaries don't help with paperwork, then the attorneys could get bogged down in other trials, further stalling the system. Likewise, if the defense counsel is not given the proper paperwork by the police department that the prosecutor obtains, then the case can not move along. This system is very much a chain, which if there is one brake in the chain then everything falls apart
