The following piece of evidence is simply a paragraph giving an overview of common and necessary courtroom etiquette. What I did was a combination of talking to the prosecutors and my supervisor. Also I conducted outside research on the subject. This enabled me to piece together what the most important aspects of courtroom etiquette are. What I learned was how all parties in a courtroom are expected to act. In other words, I learned how the prosecutors, defense attorneys, victims, witnesses, and the spectators are expected to behave. Being a Political Science Major and an aspiring attorney, understanding courtroom etiquette will give me a leg up when I enter Law School. This paragraph is a testament to my abilities because I explain in writing correct etiquette in a way that a reader can understand.
The most important element in a courtroom is “respect”. Respect is the very foundation upon what all courtroom etiquette is founded. All parties must have respect for the judge as a the representative of the court, and respect for the courtroom process. For starters it is always better to arrive early and wait then to arrive late. Furthermore, you must always wear business clothing and make sure your phone is turned off. When your case is called, counsel must go the table or podium, and be sworn in. The judge must be addressed as “Your Honor”. Only one person is allowed to speak at a time due to the need for the court reporter to take down everything that is said. An attorney may make an objection to the opposing counsels argument if he or she observes a problem with their statements. After the objection is made, the Judge may choose to sustain the objection or overrule the objection. In other words the Judge will instruct the counsels argument to alter his or her statements or ask another question.
